India has had a Vedic tradition since ancient times, with Dhanvantari, Charka, Sushruta, Jivaka etc. Dhanvantari is worshiped as a deity. Doctor’s Day is celebrated in India on July 1 as the birthday of Dr Vidhan Chandra Roy. The central government started celebrating National Doctor’s Day in the year 1991.
